Mother's day brush with royalty

Our friend, John, invited Steven, Paul and me to Wilmington, Delaware this past weekend to dine with the Swedish royal family to commemorate the 375th anniversary of the Swedes landing in Delaware. It was a very successful and memorable weekend.

Waiting outside the hotel DuPont to see the King and Queen

I do not know how to draw an arrow. They are walking away in the distance. Our first glimpse!

Our second stop was with the McMonagles (the best bonus of the weekend!) at the waterfront.

Fans held back (but John gave us great access)

Julie and Lyndsay

Matt and Steven

The Swedish flag on my nails

The Fire Chief and John

The queen (in blue) and the King

Can you see how close we were!

King and queen going upstairs

Bizarre senator dressed in colonial garb

Matt and Julie wondering how they agreed to come hang out and ended up with the royal family

The Finnish speaker and the Queen and King

The Kalmar Nyckel replica (the ship they originally sailed to Delaware)

Again, I do not know how to draw arrows but if you learn how to zoom, they're in the back of the ship waving.

Steven had the camera here, hence the Matt photo shoot

too bad there was no flash

Ready to wine and dine with the royals

Cameras were not allowed at the dinner time event. Sorry! I can tell you we had a great time but did not get any closer to the royals than we did at the waterfront. Such a fun and surprising weekend! Paul and I are steadily getting closer to royals. I can only hope we keep up our progress.
